No document is uploaded. This can be independently verified.

Comparable services transmit your file to a server and undertake to delete it subsequently. PaperJET has no server to which a document could be sent: the tools are compiled to WebAssembly and execute within this browser tab, on your own device. Nothing is queued, nothing is capped, and the work continues if you go offline after the page has loaded.

Frequently asked questions

Are documents uploaded to a server?

No. Every tool executes within your own browser using WebAssembly. The file is read from local storage by the browser and is not transmitted, so no server holds a copy of it. This may be verified by disconnecting from the network once the page has loaded; the tools continue to function normally.

Is PaperJET free to use?

Yes. All tools are provided free of charge, with no account required, no watermark applied and no file size limit.

Can a scanned PDF be processed?

Yes. The OCR tool reads the text from a scan and can return the same scan with an invisible text layer applied, so that the document appears unchanged while becoming searchable and available for copying.

Can a PDF be converted to Word or Excel?

Yes, where the PDF already contains text. Where the file is a scan, the OCR tool should be used instead; the interface will indicate which case applies.

Is there a file size limit?

No. As processing is performed on your own device rather than on a server, the constraint is the available memory of that device rather than an upload cap.

Organize PDF pages

Puts a document back into the order it should have been in. Any page can be dragged to a new position, and individual pages can additionally be rotated, duplicated or deleted in the same pass. Intended for documents received in the wrong order — a scan fed in back to front, or a bundle assembled carelessly.

How to organize PDF pages

  1. Open the PDF. Each page is shown as a thumbnail.
  2. Drag pages into the order you want.
  3. Rotate, duplicate or delete any individual page that needs it.
  4. Confirm, and save. No file is written until you confirm.
Everything in one pass

Reordering, rotating, duplicating and deleting are all available together, so a badly assembled bundle can be fixed once rather than run through four separate tools.

Nothing is re-rendered

Pages are copied rather than redrawn, so no quality is lost however much they are moved about.

Is the document uploaded to reorder it?

No. Everything happens in this browser tab and the file is never transmitted.

Can I reverse the order of a whole document?

Yes, by dragging pages into the order required. This is the common case for a stack scanned back to front.

Can a page be duplicated?

Yes. Any page can be copied so that it appears more than once, which is useful for a cover sheet or a repeated annexure.

Is anything saved before I confirm?

No. No file is written until the operation is confirmed, so you can rearrange freely and abandon it without consequence.
